That's Not My Mess!

That’s Not My Mess!

Living in community means being impacted by other people’s decisions. Sometimes it means helping clean-up something we did not create. Why would we do that? #2 Not to enable. #1 To demonstrate that we know the grace and mercy of God.

James 2:13b says, “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” This picture of kindness versus condemnation is key to our faith. It can be easy to have ill will toward others or ourselves when a mess is made. James 1:26 tells us to bridle our tongues. We must not speak out in anger against those who are responsible for the mess. Application: Do you need more grace in your self-talk or talk to others?

Our calling is to speak and demonstrate mercy. I wonder if there is a way to see life from the position of “This is our mess” rather than “That’s not my mess!?”
